Due to escalating conflict in the Middle East, the Government of Tonga has issued a third travel advisory urging all Tongan citizens living there to leave the region as soon as possible.
The advisory, dated Wednesday 4 March 2026, warned, “We strongly advise herewith to make arrangements and the Middle East on the earliest available international flight.”
The warning was published on the Facebook page of His Majesty’s Diplomatic Services.
This latest notice did not instruct stranded citizens to contact the Embassy of the Kingdom of Tonga in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, as in previous notices.
The advisory comes as international news report that the conflict involving the United States and Israel with Iran has intensified since attacks began on 28 February.
The ongoing conflict is also causing chaos for international air travel. Many airlines have been forced to reroute flights to avoid dangerous airspace, creating major disruptions across global aviation routes.
As the conflict continues to expand, thousands of people are attempting to leave the region, adding further pressure to already limited flights.
Tongan authorities are urging citizens to act quickly and leave the Middle East while travel options remain available.
Matangi Tonga has reached out the Embassy of the Kingdom of Tonga in the UAE for more information on the situation.
