There is no immediate threat to Tonga from a a Tropical Depression (TD03) in the next 24-48 hours, Tonga Meteorological Services advised at 11:00pm today, 16 December.
TD03 was located near latitude 14.8 south and longitude 172.0 east or about 1330km west of Niuafo'ou, at 10:00pm. “The potential for this system to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours is very low.”
At 10:00pm the depression was located west northwest of Fiji, or 1530km west northwest of Nuku'alofa, or 1530km west of Niuatoputapu, or 1555km west northwest of Vava'u, or 1554km west northwest of Ha'apai .
