Nobles' registration opens, five early birds

The registration of candidates for the Noble’s Representatives seats in the Legislative Assembly opened this morning, 8 October at 10:00am at the Palace office, Nuku'alofa. There were five early registrations for the nine seats.

The first five nobles to register were Lord Lasike, Lord Vaea, Lord Tu'ivakano, Lord Fulivai, and Lord Tu'iha'ateiho. The nobles all arrived at different times.

Lord Lasike was the first to arrive. 

Lord Vaea and Lord Tu’ivakano are current members of parliament.

The registration opened from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm today and will continue tomorrow,  the final registration day. T

Tonga's General Election will be held on 20 November.

There are nine noble’s seats at the Tonga Legislative Assembly, elected by the nobles in a separate ballot, Tonga has 33 hereditary noble titles, with some holding more than one title.

There are also five Life Peers that can stand and cast votes in the Noble's Election.
