Tonga’s Public Service Association (PSA) is demanding an additional 20% Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) in their salaries and wages, the Minister of Finance, Hon. 'Aisake Eke told the Tongan Parliament on April 6. Whether or not government could meet the demand would not be clear until the government’s 2014-15 budget was finalized.

These people are crazy to
These people are crazy to demand 20% raise. Where do they think Tonga is going to get the money from?.
Everyone from top down are not thinking of the country. They are selfish people. Even in Parliament they have very high salaries, for a little island that has no resources to make any money. The people of Tonga should ask all the donor countries to stop all the money, let reality sink in to these people that there is no money for anyone to be demanding and everyone from top down should get a grip and get paid for what the country can afford with tourism, all exports, etc. This young generation is all about me, me, and no more we as a country that we all love.
Pay rise pe he funga 'oe ta
Pay rise pe he funga 'o e ta'engaue? Malie Tonga! We need a new model of leadership for Tonga. The old system is not working and it will never work because the current issues have emerged in a paradigm of complexity. We can't deal with these problems the way we used to, we need innovative ways of thinking and problem solving. Kuo lahi e, well educated and young potential leaders kuo migrate overseas, not because they don't want to stay in Tonga, but because they feel that their capacity is not appreciated by those who have the power to change. I don't blame them these young lads. Who do we end up with? Yup, those who are running the country to the ground.
