Out to defend their Commonwealth Games title, Diamonds coach Stacey Marinkovich is well aware that anything but a gold medal will be seen as a disappointment.
Diamonds coach Stacey Marinkovich knows there'll be no excuses if Australia fall short of Commonwealth Games gold.
Not that the netball world No.1 and defending Games champions are shying away from the pressure in Glasgow.
"It is about winning," Marinkovich told AAP.
"We don't have to state it. It's part of our vision. It's part of our expectation.
"The steps to get there to maximise that opportunity, it becomes the focus, but the end point and the expectation that we have is we want to win."
Australia have never missed a netball final since the sport was added to the Games program in 1998 and is the most successful nation with four gold medals.
A spot in this year's final is non-negotiable for the perennial heavyweights, but the Diamonds must first get through five pool games at the Hydro.
The top seed in the 12-team competition, the Diamonds play debutants Tonga - captained by former Melbourne Mavericks star goaler Uneeq Palavi - in pool A on Saturday before taking on England.
Australia captain Liz Watson said the Diamonds are navigating uncharted waters for their opening clash, having very little intel on how Tonga likes to play.
Though the Diamonds do have Mavericks assistant coach Nicole Richardson in Marinkovich's set-up.

"I think they're (Tonga) going to be a little bit unorthodox to how we usually play the game of netball," midcourter Watson told AAP.
"Obviously, we know a couple of the girls from SSN … but it's a bit of an unknown for everyone.
"Uneeq is an incredible, creative player. I don't even know if you can pick her brain, because she just comes out with some amazing play sometimes.
"But we've got Richo who's coached her, who I'm sure can give us a few little tips."
Bitter rivals New Zealand are in pool B, alongside Jamaica and hosts Scotland.
The Silver Ferns and Sunshine Girls are Australia's biggest threats for gold, and both have suffered recent defeats to the Diamonds.
New Zealand have missed the past two Games finals, and lost the Constellation Cup last year.
England - ranked No.4 - are also in the hunt for a second title, while minnows Scotland could cause trouble with Super Netball veteran Kath Tetley at the helm.
Tetley joined the Scottish Thistles in 2024 after various roles in the Australian competition, including general manager at the NSW Swifts.
Australia have claimed back-to-back gold medals in netball once, doing so at the 1998 and 2002 Games.
But with five debutants in her 12-strong squad, Marinkovich isn't thinking about defending Australia's 2022 crown.
"The biggest point that we've talked about is that we always respect the legacy that's been before," Marinkovich said.
"We've acknowledged that this is a really different team, and it's a great opportunity for this group to go out with the strengths and skill sets.
"We're playing a slightly different way. We're coming up against different opposition. We're in a different location.
"Four years ago, it was my first Comm Games.
"This group, we've just been together for a lot longer, so the depth and connection of the group has a different layer.
"It's this team's time in the sun."
