Samiuela Vao has been appointed the new Supervisor of Elections and CEO for Tonga Electoral Commission, effective from 8 May 2026.
Mr. Vao (37) of Lomaiviti 'Utulau, Tongatapu, had been serving as Acting Supervisor following the retirement of former Supervisor, Pita Vuki.
The Tonga Electoral Commission stated Vao's responsibilities include leading the Electoral Commission's administration, executing statutory duties under the Tonga Electoral Act, and advising the Board of Commissioners on electoral matters.
