Members of Tonga’s Parliament are strengthening their understanding of national budget procedures ahead of the debate of the Government Budget Estimate for 2026–2027.
A Budget Process Induction was held this morning in the Parliament Chamber in Nuku’alofa, delivered by the Office of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga.
The session aimed to equip Members of Parliament with a clearer understanding of budget procedures, key documents, and related processes in preparation for the upcoming budget cycle.
Researchers from the Committee and Library Division of the Legislative Assembly led the induction, using the current 2025–2026 Budget as a reference point throughout the session.
The National Planning Department, under the Office of the Prime Minister, also contributed by outlining its role in national planning, with a particular focus on its involvement in the budget process.
