February rainfall extremely heavy in parts of Tonga

During a month of extremely high rainfall in parts of Tonga in February, the highest 24-hour rainfall was 181.9mm recorded in Ha’apai on 15 February.

Tonga Meteorological Services reported that normal to above normal rainfall was received across the country for February.

The mean air temperature was 26.6 degree Celsius, 0.7 degrees cooler than normal.

The highest maximum temperature was 33.8 degree Celsius, recorded at Nuku’alofa on 11 February.

The lowest temperature was 20.9 degree Celsius, recorded at ‘Eua on 12 February.
