A new government centre costing around $1.7 million pa'anga  is under construction in ‘Ohonua, ‘Eua, under the government's recovery plans following the tsunami damage there during the Hunga-Tonga Hunga-Ha’apai eruption of January 2022.

The new government centre is scheduled to be completed in 10 months, will centralize four key ministries along with the government representative office, stated the Ministry of Infrastructure.

"The new Government Centre not only represents a substantial investment in the island’s infrastructure but also aligns with the broader development goals set by the Prime Minister’s office, reflecting the government’s commitment to building resilient and efficient public service facilities across Tonga," the Ministry stated.
