Just for clarification.
Just for clarification. Kacific didn't rescue Tonga from internet. EziNet were on the ground and it was our team and leadership that did this. Kacific was our supplier but we had options for other suppliers but used Kacific at that time. But for Kacific themselves - they had no local presence in the Tongan market to provide services. We were both fortunate that EziNet had the foresight to be in the market and had invested considerable time, presence resources and money to be in the market at that time. - John Paul Chapman, Nuku'alofa.
Clarifying a mis
Clarifying a mis-clarification.- It was Kacific who supplied the hardware, the satellite connectivity, the expertise and personnel to provide critical connectivity for Tongan infrastructure and government agencies when the cables were cut. Within 24 hours of the fibre break Kacific had a team member on the ground, and two more arrived shortly after. It was they who directly restored internet to Government, the central bank, the airport and other facilities. The Kacific team also installed a Kacific dish at the fibre cable landing station so the rescue ship could access the data that identified where the break was and inform the cable ship. And the team spent time showing Ezinet personnel how to assemble the 3m dish Kacific had provided for them and how to distribute the service to its own shops, storage yard and shipping company.
That said, we were pleased to see Mr Chapman acknowledge that Kacific had supplied services to Ezinet. ... - Kacific Broadband Satellites Ltd
