As Tonga faces an alarming increase in secondary school drop-outs, combined with declining pass rates for the Tonga School Certificate examination, Queen Nanasipau'u Tuku'aho urged Tonga's teachers to save students from what is becoming “an epidemic” of failure.

Surely this is not a problem for the teachers but resents a significant failing of government to address these emerging issues and trends.

This is unfortunate. It is usually a problem that starts from the top-down. But the way to turn this around is to hire people who knows the factors related to high school dropout rates then training must change. If the kids do NOT learn the way we teach, then we need to change the way we teach. Simplify the programs and get the churches to be involved.
