$2 million slush fund for People's Reps

$2 million pa'anga of taxpayers money was divided equally among 17 People's Representatives this week, to spend on their annual national tour of constituencies - a $300,000 increase from the $1.7 million they took in the previous budget. The Minister of Finance Lisiate 'Akolo argued for the increased amount of $300,000 to be divided between himself and 'Uliti Uata, but the PRs also wanted a "fair share". If my memory serves me correctly, the majority of revenue Tonga enjoys comes from family overseas as well as several countries who are giving money to help our little country to stay afloat. Now, this article baffles me. Who died and left Lisiate in charge, and Uliti, who, where and what these two have been sniffing to come up with this crazy idea.
I totally agree with Clive, "Let's look at who needs it the most." You have people living in swamp land with no food, no clothing, while you have all these PRs and other Pretend to be Important People that riding around in fancy cars paid by the people's hard earn money.
