7.1 undersea earthquake shakes Tonga and Fiji

Tuesday, January 3, 2006 - 13:15
A major undersea earthquake occurred close to Tonga and Fiji, at at 11:13:40 am Tonga time (10:13:40 am Fiji time) this morning January 3. The quake shook buildings in central Nuku'alofa for a few seconds, but so far no damage has been reported, and none was immediately obvious.
