The tables were turned on points leader, Tonga's Tau'uta Reds when they lost 12-25 to Savai'i Samoa who are bottom of the points table, in the fourth round of the IRB Pacific Cup Tournament at Apia Park on Saturday, April 21

After the third week of the 2007 Pacific Rugby Cup tournament the two Tongan rugby teams Tau'uta Reds and Tautahi Gold won both their matches last weekend.

The Tautahi Gold gained their first win in the IRB Pacific Cup Tournament by beating the Air Pacific Fijian Warriors 13-10, at Teufaiva Stadium, Nuku'alofa this afternoon.

Tonga moved a step closer to a semi final place in Division B of the IRB Under 19 World Championship 2007 after running in 12 tries to beat the Cook Islands 72-6 at Gibson Park, Malone.

After Day One in Round Six of the International Rugby Board (IRB) Sevens World Series in Adelaide on Saturday. The Tongan team provided the first shock of the tournament by beating England 12-5 with two tries from Teuimuli Kaufusi. England then needed to beat Fiji if they were to avoid dropping to the Bowl competition on day two. The English beat Fiji 20-12 in a hard-fought encounter.

With both sides looking for promotion to Division A of the IRB Under 19 World Championship 2007 this match was always likely to be a physical encounter between two powerful sides and it was the beaten 2006 Division B finalists, Tonga, who proved the stronger of the two.

The IRB Pacific Cup starts today and while at Teufaiva, Nuku'alofa the Fijian Warriors will meet the Tau'uta Red, at Churchill Park, Lautoka, Fiji, the Tongan Tautahi Gold will meet the Fijian Barbarians; and at Apia Park, Samoa the two Samoan teams will battle it out to find out which is the better of the two.

Tonga has yet to announce its squad for the national rugby team, 'Ikale Tahi for the coming Rugby World Cup in September, while a rift in the TRU board may end up in court.

The '‘Ikale Tahi, Tonga's national rugby team, will play its final repechage qualifier Rugby World Cup match against South Korea on February 10 in Auckland, New Zealand.
