Tonga has been left without a resident Head of State or a Prime Minister for weeks.

Tonga's Prime Minister, Lord Tu'ivakano, was admitted to hospital in New York for an emergency procedure late on the night of Saturday 28 September after suffering from acute chest pains. [updated]

Proud new parents Crown Prince Tupouto'a and Princess Sinaitakala are celebrating the birth of their first son, reportedly named Prince Taufa'ahau Manumataongo, who surprised the family with an early arrival today, May 10, in Auckland, New Zealand.

The Tongan noble, Baron Fielakepa (51) was laid to rest at Paini-tu'u-ua Cemetery in Haveluloto on February 15. The funeral was attended by HM King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau'u.

A Remembrance Sunday Commemoration Service in memory of soldiers who died in wars in order for people to live in freedom in a peaceful world was held at Tonga's Cenotaph, Pangai Si'i, Nuku'alofa, yesterday November 12 on a beautiful sunny morning. Tonga's King Tupou VI attended the Commemoration Service for the first time since he ascended the Tongan throne earlier this year.

In New Zealand on Saturday August 18, King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau'u visited Turangawaewae Marae to meet Tuheitia Paki, the Maori King and Te Arikinui of the Kingitanga, on the celebration of the 6th anniversary of his coronation.
