Polling in Tonga's Parliamentary Election today has been heavy at Pangai Si'i in downtown Nuku'alofa, where voters from Tonga's outer islands were casting their votes for their home areas.
The voting booths for the outer islands of ‘Eua, Ha'apai, Vava'u, Niuatoputapu and Niuafo‘ou, ‘Atata and ‘Eueiki located at Pangai Si'i were busy all day.

The safe return of the Tongan Royal Marines from Iraq on December 17 had to be the best Christmas present for Tonga this year. After Tonga stood up to be counted in the Coalition of the Willing, and sent soldiers to Iraq, the country can now be relieved that there was no casualties.

Human Rights Day, December 10, was marked in Tonga with a march along Hala Taufa'ahau in central Nuku'alofa by non-government organisations, volunteer organisations, and Methodist Church youth groups from Samoa, Fiji and Tonga.
Human Rights was the theme of the day and the march ended 16-days of human rights activities organised by various human rights protectors, the Legal Literacy group, Red Cross, Salvation Army, Tonga National Youth Congress, Tonga Human Rights and Pro Democracy Movement and the Iron Man Ministry.
