Army Lieutenant Colonel Siamelie Latu, Tonga Defence Services, from Tatakamotonga, Tonga, graduated March 26 from the Asia-Pacific Center for Studies Comprehensive Security Responses to Terrorism (CSRT) Course in Honolulu. Latu received his diploma from retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Ed Smith, director of the Center.

"The challenge is for the man to support us women so that we can achieve and have a fair share of the positions in government and other areas, just as women have their share of the social life in the home," she said.

In the Pacific Tonga is very lucky because women are well respected by men because of our unique culture despite the developments of this century, the Queen Mother Halaevalu Mata'aho said yesterday. As keynote speaker for the Tonga celebration of International Women's Day, the Queen Mother noted this year's theme "Investing in Women and Girls - Valuing Women's Work" and said this is evident in the displays of handicrafts and weaving of women's valuable work.
