A valuable collection of preserved Tongan artefacts, including five war clubs, a priest staff and a kali (headrest) dating back to the 1800’s are to be auctioned in England by Christie’s Auctions at the end of August.

Tongan graduates, including over 40 students who received their Masters of Business Administration, celebrated their graduation from the University of the South Pacific Tonga Campus, today Friday, July 26, when HM King Tupou VI was installed as the 20th Chancellor of the University.

Tonga's government celebrated the gift of a new MA60 aircraft from China at a handover ceremony attended by King Tupou VI at the Fua'amotu Domestic Airport on Saturday July 6. Deputy Prime Minister Samiu Vaipulu, who sought the aircraft from China, said in an emotional speech that it was the first of its type in the region, but it was sad that it had not been accepted by the United States and New Zealand.
