The new UEFA Nations League competition will be broadcast to viewers in Tonga starting from 3 June, after Digicel TV announced today that it had secured the rights to broadcast the football competition.

The Tonga Women’s national soccer team defeated the Cook Islands 1 – 0 in their final game of the OFC Women’s Nations Cup in New Caledonia yesterday, 25 November. Tonga’s winning goal was scored by Laveni Vaka.

Tonga’s national Under-19s soccer team have successfully qualified for the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) U-19 Championship tournament in Tahiti, after forcing a 1 – 1 draw against Samoa on Saturday 2 June. The game was the final round of the U19 OFC Championship Qualifiers tournament in Rarotonga, Cook Islands.

The Tonga Under-19’s soccer team have a chance to qualify for the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) U-19 Championships in Tahiti this year if they defeat Samoa this Saturday in the Cook Islands.

Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) president David Chung visited Vava’u on Saturday 10 March, to review the construction site of a football technical centre in the Village of Makave. The FIFA funded construction project aims to establish a centre that will facilitate the growth of football in Vava’u. The centre will include a football field, an administration office, a changing room block and a toilet block. The construction project is expected to be completed in October this year.

The Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) officially launched the “OFC Education Centre” at the Loto-Tonga Soka Centre in Veitongo on Saturday 23 September. The education centre is being piloted in Tonga and the Cook Islands.

The Tonga Under-19 Women’s Soccer team is attracting attention for having the youngest player, Napa Talasinga (15), at the OFC U19 Women’s Championship 2017 in Auckland, New Zealand.
