Nuku'alofa, Tonga
A Consular Team from U.S. Embassy Suva will visit Nuku'alofa on a quarterly-visit basis to see visa applicants who have made appointments in advance. The launch of a Consular window pilot program followed the Embassy’s official opening in Tonga today, August 28.

Tonga’s hip hop Onion Squad have had their dreams dashed after they were denied US visas today, 2 August, to compete at the Hip Hop World Championships (HHI) in Phoenix, Arizona, United States, next week. Over 4,000 of the world’s best dancers, from over 50 countries, are set to compete but Tonga's favourites won't be among them.

The US Secretary of State, Condoleeza Rice, has agreed to a request from Tonga's Prime Minister, Dr. Feleti V. Sevele, for applications by Tongan citizens for Non-Immigrant Visas to the United States to be lodged and processed in Nuku'alofa, during a bilateral meeting in Washington DC on May 13.
