The Ministry of Agriculture is stepping into the Squash Industry for the first time this year, as one of the growers, in order to boost declining squash production.

A new political party, called the Paati Langafonua Tu'uloa or "PLT", was officially launched by its president Sione Fonua at the Basilica, Nuku'alofa, on Saturday, August 18.

'Amelia Latuniua Taumoepeau-Tupou (62) passed away at the Vaiola Hospital, in Nuku'alofa yesterday, August 12, after an illness. A sister of the Queen Mother, her death comes less than three weeks after the loss of another sister Kalolaine Lataifalefehi Fakafanua on July 26.

Tonga's Prime Minister, Dr Feleti Sevele, saying that the Public Servants' Association (PSA) is out of step with its new demands for the extension of the 60, 70, 80% salary rise for two more years and for a political reform to be implemented next year, has warned that civil servants should stay clear of politics.

The Tongan Delegation to the ACP Council of Ministers Meeting in Brussels, led by the Hon.
