The responsibility for planning and preparing Tonga's hosting of the South Pacific Games in 2019 has been given to three authorities, the Prime Minister’s Office stated on March 16.

The Foreign Exchange Levy Act 2015 that was originally scheduled to be implemented on 21 October, finally came into force yesterday, November 3, allowing government to collect one seniti from the banks on every pa'anga sold or purchased in foreign exchange transactions.

A three-days Special Session of the Tonga Parliament to deliberate over five Bills ended on Tuesday evening, March 12, after the House passed four Bills and deferred one Bill to the House's Standing Committee on Legislation. One of the bills that establishes the organizational structure of the Tonga Pacific Games Organizing Committee (TPGOC) as a statutory corporation with separate legal entity, allows the CEO and members of the committee to set their own salaries.
