The National Reserve Bank of Tonga wishes to warn the public that money transfer business is restricted to Authorised Persons with a valid license issued by the Reserve Bank, as required by section 13(1) of the Foreign Exchange Control Act 2018 (FEC Act). Any person conducting foreign exchange services or money transfer business without a valid license commits an offence and is liable upon conviction to penalties under section 13(3) of the FEC Act.

Although tourism-related services are recovering, tourism receipts as a share of GDP are anticipated to remain below pre-pandemic levels until FY2026 due to slow reconstruction of damaged facilities. Worker migration is causing severe labour shortages.

For these countries, the COVID-19 pandemic may cut deeper than even some of the worst cyclones from years past. But the report also reveals that for students having little or no preparation for a change of lifestyle, settling in to high school is very challenging and can even be dangerous.
