Government payouts amounting to over $3 million pa'anga to three royal estate holders are being challenged by Sione Taione, a People's Representative to the Tonga Legislative Assembly, who filed an application with the Nuku'alofa Supreme Court on 29 May for a Judicial Review.

Tonga's King Tupou VI said today from Auckland that he hoped Government and Parliament would continue to work together to revive the Tongan economy, which has been badly affected by the global financial crisis. He outlined projects that were being undertaken by government in the hope of energizing economic development in his speech that was read out by Prince Tu'ipelehake, accompanied by Prince Tungi and Lord Luani for the opening of a special session of the Tonga Legislative Assembly today.
