Tongan-New Zealander shot-put athlete Lisa Adams won Gold in shotput at the World Para Athletics Championships in Dubai on Saturday, 11 November. Lisa Adams is the younger sister of Olympic shotput champion Valerie Adams.

Para-athletes Sione Manu and ‘Ana Talakai will represent Tonga at the Rio Paralympic Games, set to begin this Wednesday September 7. Both athletes are competing in the Javelin throw. Tonga has participated in every Paralympic Games since the 2000 Sydney Paralympics, but this time Tonga is sending more than one athlete to compete.

Teenage swimmer Tupou Neiufi (15) from Auckland has been summoned to join the New Zealand Paralympic team in next month’s Paralympic games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As a reserve Tupou Neiufi was a late call up to take the place of Kiwi swimmer Bryall McPherson, who withdrew last week due to injury.
