Sesilia Uaisele was found guilty on possession of 0.02 grams of methamphetamine, seized inside her co-accused vehicle at the bus station in Nuku'alofa. “A substantial amount of money was found in her bag and purse. Empty plastic packs were also found in the car. All these items are consistent with items possessed by someone dealing or using drugs,” said the judge, in the Nuku'alofa Supreme Court.

Siaosi Makaafi was sentenced to 18-months imprisonment for possession of a cannabis plant, which weighed 48.33 grams. The sentence was fully suspended on conditions, at the Nuku'alofa Supreme Court.

Lelei Vaiangina (54) was sentenced to nine-months imprisonment, fully suspended for possession of 0.04 grams of methamphetamine seized outside a vehicle at the Nuku'alofa (Central) Police Station last year.

Toomas Liiv from Estonia was sentenced by the Nuku'alofa Supreme Court to two-years imprisonment, which was fully suspended on charges, including possession of 67.12 grams of cannabis seized at Puke in 2019.

Kuliti Tongamoa, aka “Creed”, who supplied cocaine to a former international rugby player 'Epeli Taione (41) at 'Umusi in January, was found guilty on two counts of supplying illicit drugs; while Taione was found guilty of possession of illicit drugs, in a verdict delivered in the Nuku'alofa Supreme Court on December 11. They will be sentenced on 19 February, 2021.

Muimui He Lotu ‘Amaka (33) and Sione Moli (34) were sentenced to nine-months imprisonment each for possession of 0.25 grams of methamphetamine and 0.24 grams of cannabis at Nukunuku.

Ten people were arrested with illicit drugs, including methamphetamine from five different locations in Tongatapu over the last three weeks.

Two men will be tried at the Nuku’alofa Supreme Court on a charge relating to the seizure of just over 2.1 kg of methamphatamine last year. Police allege that the haul had a street value in Tonga of just over $2 million pa'anga.

A couple was arrested with 10.66 grams of methamphetamine ready for distribution at their home in Sopu on October 15.
