The U.S. Ryder Cup captain, Steve Stricker, selected as his choices Tony Finau, Xander Schauffele, Jordan Spieth, Harris English, Daniel Berger and Scottie Scheffler.

Professional golfer, Tony Finau, who is of Tongan heritage, won the PGA Tour’s Northern Trust Open on Monday, 23 August, surpassing world no.1 Jon Rahm who was leading on Saturday, and beating Cameron Smith in a playoff in Jersey City, New Jersey. The win is Tony’s first since he took out the 2016 Puerto Rico Open, and he now leads after the first of three events in the FedExCup Playoffs.

The last time Tony Finau won on the PGA Tour was in 2016 when he defeated 70 professional golfers to win the 2016 Puerto Rico Open. That historic victory made Tony the first Polynesian and Tongan to win on the PGA Tour. Since then, the 30-year-old, is determined to win his second. Tony is in La Quinta to participate in The American Express – his second PGA Tour event of the year, set to begin tomorrow 16 January.

U.S. Tongan golfer Tony Finau will join a team of four American golfers led by the legendary Tiger Woods at the 13th President’s Cup this December in Melbourne, Australia. Tiger Woods was given the privilege of handpicking the American team, selecting Tony Finau, Patrick Reed, Gary Woodland and himself.

Pro golfer Tony Finau showed off his dancing skills with an impressive Kailao at a charity luau yesterday in Salt Lake City, Utah. The 28-year-old former professional fire dancer was entertaining guests at the event, organized for his own ‘Tony Finau Foundation’, a charity that helps underprivileged children. Finau tweeted that the dance was also celebration of his recent selection to Team USA in the prestigious Ryder Cup.
