A 40-foot container full of brand new wheelchairs and walking aids was officially handed over to the Ministry of Health by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at Vaiola Hospital today. The equipment will help needy people throughout Tonga and is the fourth container-load of equipment donated by the church.

A container load of wheelchairs and walking aids has been gifted to Vaiola Hospital in time for Christmas. Elder ‘Aisake Tukuafu of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, handed over the equipment to Reynold ‘Ofanoa, the Deputy CEO Ministry of Health on 30 November.

Cyclone Gita evacuees currently staying in an evacuation centre at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ha’ateiho, said today that listening to the cyclone warnings helped them decide to move to the evacuation centre before the massive storm hit Tongatapu.

They met with Queen Nanasipau'u and other members of the Royal Family.
