Misivina Tatakamotonga was sentenced to seven-years eight-months imprisonment for possession of illicit drugs, including 99.47 grams of methamphetamine. The judge said it was gravely concerning that the defendant's true activities were not reflected in the indictment and there appeared to be scant investigation into the dealer list. He urged the investigating authorities “to reflect on what lines of enquiry can properly be pursued."

Siueli Angilau (42) was today found guilty of possession of 0.55 grams of methamphetamine seized by Tonga Police after received they information that illicit drugs were being sold from a little house in Fanga.

Viliami Sima (46) received a suspended sentence for possession of 0.18 grams of methamphetamine and 16.5 grams of cannabis seized at his market stall in Ma’ufanga.

Matangi Fetu’u’aho (35) was sentenced to 22-months imprisonment for possession of 257.86 grams of cannabis. Tonga police found the defendant packing cannabis at a Fo'ui residence last December.

Faka’osi Katoa (43) was sentenced to 15-months imprisonment for possession of methamphatamine and cannabis, seized in two separate incidents in 2019-20.

Maka Latu (35) was sentenced today to eight-years imprisonment for 16 offences, including possession of 50.22 grams of methamphetamine. In one incident he had resisted arrest and Police shot the tyres of his vehicle. "In my view, those who import, manufacture, distribute or supply illicit drugs are currently one of the greatest threats to the physical, mental and spiritual health of the people of Tonga and its social fabric and cohesion." said the Chief Justice.

Kelikupa Maile (34) was sentenced today to 30-months imprisonment for possession of a substantial amount of methamphetamines and some cannabis, seized in a vehicle by Tonga Police.
