A donation of $5100 pa’anga was made to the Alonga Adult Disabled Centre, at Pea on December 8. Tongan artist Uili Lousi collaborated with the New Zealand High Commissioner HE Sarah Walsh in this initiative and presented the cheque to Lavinia Satini, the center’s coordinator with residents present. The amount was raised from the sales of artwork by Lousi.

Tonga’s Queen Mother Halaevalu Mata’aho will be sorely missed by two organisations whose cause was close to her heart. Leaders of the Tonga Red Cross Society Inc. and the Alonga Centre expressed their sorrow at her passing but remembered the Queen Mother's legacy of love, to help and support the elderly and people living with disabilities throughout Tonga.

The Alonga Centre for the handicapped at Pea in Tongatapu were treated to a feast and received a donation of $8,200 from a group of Tongan fruit-pickers who had completed seven months under the Pacific Seasonal Workers Pilot Scheme to Australia (PSWPS).
