JOB VACANCIES

Tonga Power Limited is a Public Enterprise responsible for the generation, distribution, and supply of electricity to consumers in Tonga. Applicants are invited to apply for the following positions;

1. Power Station Technician Supervisor (‘Eua Branch)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Trade Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Power Generation, or equivalent recognised technical qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in power generation or industrial plant operations.
  • Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience in a technical environment.
  • Experience in diesel generator operation and maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and emergency response procedures.
  • Willingness to participate in a 24-hour on-call roster.
  • Valid driver’s licence (desirable).

2. Senior Line Mechanic (Tongatapu)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Trade Certificate in Electrical Engineering / Line Mechanics or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 3–6 years’ relevant experience in distribution network construction and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated high-level technical competency in fault restoration and line construction.
  • Experience mentoring junior linesmen or apprentices.
  • Valid First Aid and pole-top rescue certification (required or willingness to obtain).
  • Valid driver’s licence (manual preferred).
  • Willingness to participate in on-call and emergency response rosters.

3. Line Mechanic (Tongatapu)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Trade Certificate in Electrical Engineering / Line Mechanics or completion of recognised trade qualification.
  • Experience in electrical line work required
  • First Aid Certificate; pole-top rescue proficiency desirable.
  • Valid driver’s license (manual transmission).
  • Physically fit and able to perform the demands of the role (lifting, climbing, working at heights, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and staking sheets.
