Organizational Context:
The Tonga Red Cross Society (TRCS) was established in 1961 with its headquarters in Nukuʻalofa and is a member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The Society acts before, during and after disasters, crises and health emergencies in order to meet the needs and improve the lives of vulnerable people. It is the largest local humanitarian organisation in Tonga committed to quality service delivery to the most vulnerable. The organisation is part of the Red Cross & Red Crescent Movement which has 192 member countries.

Position Requirements

1. Communication and Dissemination Officer

Job Purpose
The Communications & Dissemination Officer is responsible for promoting the image of Tonga Red Cross Society, its activities, the fundamental principles and humanitarian values of the Red Cross Red Crescent (RCRC) Movement, and International Humanitarian Law (IHL) to the people of Tonga. The main function of the position is to, in consultation with the Deputy Secretary General, Secretary General and International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC), establish annual communications and dissemination programs within pre-determined budget guidelines, to clearly identify priority target populations, means and methods to transmit and/or disseminate appropriate messages. The post holder will handle a wide range of contacts with stakeholders including International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC), ICRC, partner National Societies, government departments, embassies, corporate sector, public and private entities and the International donor community.

Education
Degree or relevant tertiary qualification in Communications, Journalism and/or Management or relevant discipline

Job Purpose
Reporting to the Deputy Secretary General, the Health Coordinator is responsible for programme development and management. She/he will be responsible for implementing health activities and budget that includes focus areas on Health and WASH and the strategies for implementation.

Education
A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Public Health, Nursing, Health Care, Social Work or similar.

Deputy Secretary General

3. Logistics Officer

Job Purpose
The principal responsibility of the Logistic Officer is to provide logistic support services to the Tonga Red Cross Society in all programs and departments such as DM, Health and First Aid in doing their work. By using the 5 rights (To the right place, at the right time, in the right quantity, at the right quality, at the right price) must comply when assist with any programs. This includes assisting with procurement, importation, stock issue, transportation, warehousing & stock management and lastly report keeping.

Education
Diploma level qualification, professional qualification or equivalent of qualifying experience in logistics.

Disaster Management Manager (DMM)

4. Protection, Gender Inclusion (PGI) & Volunteer Officer

Job Purpose
The PGI Officer will lead the operationalisation of PGI priorities across TRCS programs, policies, and community-based activities. Under the supervision of the Senior PGI Focal Point, the Officer will provide technical support, training, and field-level implementation of PGI actions. This includes ensuring inclusive and protective programming that reflects Tonga’s cultural values and community structures. The Officer will also support PGI integration in emergency preparedness, disaster response, and long-term development, while coordinating with local partners and contributing to PGI monitoring and reporting. Meanwhile, the Volunteer Officer will coordinate, and support the TRCS volunteering program and activities to better support volunteering development in Tonga.

Tertiary education in a related field
