JOB VACANCIES
Tonga Power Limited is a Public Enterprise responsible for the generation, distribution, and supply of electricity to consumers in Tonga. Applicants are invited to apply for the following positions;
1. Junior Cashier (Tongatapu)
- Completed at least secondary school education (Form 6 or equivalent) or working towards a certificate in Accounting or related field.
- Some experience in cash handling or customer service roles advantageous.
- Willingness to learn and participate in training.
- Flexibility to work as scheduled, including weekends or public holidays as required.
- Basic numeracy skills and ability to handle cash accurately and responsibly.
2. Junior Power Station Electrician, (Tongatapu)
- Certificate in Electrical Engineering / Electrical Technology or equivalent recognised electrical qualification
- Entry-level or trainee experience acceptable (industrial or power station experience is an advantage)
- Sound understanding of electrical safety principles
- Willingness to work shifts, after-hours, and participate in call-out rosters when required
- Physically fit for industrial work and able to work in a power station environment
- Willingness to undergo medical and safety clearances
- This is a safety-critical role requiring strict adherence to health and safety procedures.
3. Linesman, (Tongatapu)
- Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Line Mechanics or equivalent.
- Experience in electrical line work required (minimum of 3 years’ work experience preferred)
- First Aid Certificate; pole-top rescue proficiency desirable.
- Valid driver’s license (manual transmission).
- Physically fit and able to perform the demands of the role (lifting, climbing, working at heights, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and staking sheets.
4. Foreman Linesman (Tongatapu)
- Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant work experience in electrical line work and network distribution.
- First Aid Certificate; proficiency in pole-top rescue desirable.
- Valid driver’s license (manual transmission).
- Proven leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical plans and drawings.
- Physical fitness sufficient for the job’s demands (lifting, climbing, working at height, etc.).
- Flexibility to work on-call, including at short notice, weekends, or public holidays as required.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise crews and enforce safe-work practices.
5. Junior Linesman, (Ha’apai & ‘Eua)
- Certificate in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Entry level or limited experience acceptable, training & supervision will be provided
- First Aid Certificate; pole-top rescue proficiency desirable.
- Valid driver’s license (manual transmission).
- Physically fit and able to perform the demands of the role (lifting, climbing, working at heights, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and staking sheets.
