
Seven incumbent nobles were returned, joined by two new MPs, in the nine Noble's Representatives seats in the Tonga Legislative Assembly for a four-year term.
The result of the Noble's election was announced by the Tonga Broadcasting Commission, sourced from the Election Commission, after the nobles voted in their separate ballot this morning.
Tonga has 33 hereditary noble titles, with some holding more than one title. There are also five Life Peers that can stand and cast votes in the Noble's Election.
Fourteen nobles were standing for election to the nine noble's seats The nine elected are:
Tongatapu (3 seats)
- Ma'afu
- Tu'ívakano (incumbent)
- Vaea (incumbent)
Vava'u (2 seats)
- Tu'i'afitu (incumbent)
- Tu'ilakepa (incumbent)
Ha'apai (2 seats)
- Fakafanua (incumbent)
- Tuihaángana (incumbent)
'Eua (1 seat)
- Ve'ehala
Niuas (1 seat)
- Fotofili (incumbent)
HSH Prince Kalaniuvalu Fotofili, the incumbent noble for the Niuas, as the sole candidate for the Niuas, was earlier declared elected by the Electoral Commission Office.
Lord Fohe, the incumbent noble's representative no.3 for Tongatapu, was not among the candidates this election.
Lord Nuku was eliminated due to a pending court action.
