"Breast cancer affects many families in our community, and this cause is close to our hearts,” said the Country Head of ANZ Tonga, David Dudley, today, in presenting a donation of $6129 to the Tonga Breast Cancer Society Inc. to help promote early detection of breast cancer in Tonga.

The donation was raised by ANZ-Tonga staff.

The President of the Tonga Breast Cancer Society, Hon. Frederica Tuita received the cheque at the ANZ Ma'ufanga branch in Nuku'alofa. She acknowledged the generous support and donation from the ANZ staff.

"We really appreciate it, especially because this is an ongoing battle against the stigma and fear that surrounds breast cancer, especially because breast cancer, I believe—the type of cancer that affects the most people here in town."

She said leading up to the Pinktober events in October, this donation will boost their organization's efforts to help the community and the families of the survivors.

The funds were raised through a staff breakfast and other fundraising activities of ANZ Tonga.

"Our team came together to raise awareness and offer meaningful support. We're proud of what we achieved and hope this donation helps the Tonga Breast Cancer Society continue its vital work," Mr Dudley said.

"These conversations can be difficult, but they're essential. Many of us know someone impacted by breast cancer — a family member, friend, colleague, or someone in our church or village. That's why it's important to keep this conversation going, not just in October, but all year round," he said.
