Loud thunder over Tongatapu “not an eruption”

Booming thunder over Nuku'alofa this afternoon is raising people's anxiety and scaring animals, especially dogs who are running for cover, as it reminds them of the volcanic explosions of January 15, when Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai erupted, bringing devastating tsunamis to nearby coastlines in Tonga.
