PM Pohiva says all MPs should go to jail, including himself

Tonga's Prime Minister told parliament yesterday, Thursday September 20, that he wanted to send all members to prison, including himself, because they did not take action on an Auditor General's annual report from 2012-13 that had been previously presented to parliament. He said that they would only do their prison time at the weekends in the morning, and members would take turns. From the House by Pesi Fonua.

The PM should not be making laughable something of a magnitude as serious as this matter. He and his government need to take the petition letter seriously and dismiss those Cabinet ministers responsible for this irresponsible act. It must be remembered that King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV dismissed two Cabinet ministers from his government for a similar sort of financial mismanagement. Malo

When will this Parliamentary circus stop performing and act like sensible adults. Never has a leader said anything as witless as what this man said. These are people who are supposed to be intelligent and fit to govern a country, They spent more time spitting and hissing at each other instead of dealing with matters of Government. What a fiasco this Parliament has become, they are an egotistical, opinionated mob with their heads in the sand....
