interesting to note he said
interesting to note he said "the outcome of the investigation could be implemented and backdated to 1 July" seems he's already decided they are not paid enough, so why do the investigation that will cost about $92 for every working person in Tonga. Tongan's are underpaid, we all know this, but get some runs on the board before you push your own barrow, get tourism and farming going and then based on results a pay rise would be acceptable....and when your do the pay rise factor in the 100 or so government cars, Tonga has more government cars than the New Zealand Govt (excluding NZ police cars), and we see Tongan govt cars being used for private use all the time.....

Is it possible in this era of transparence, accountability etc for members of the public to be given the job description / terms of Reference of the Remuneration Authority? The recipients of the services provided by the Civil Service can then make suggestions on how civil servants can improve their performance. In the interest of reviving/ resuscitating/ strengthening the value of "volunteerism" in the community, perhaps the younger members of society who are proficient in utilising the Internet tools/apps/programmes etc can volunteer to do a Monkey Survey to get immediate constructive feedback from the public on whether they are being served by the civil service to contribute to the work of the Remuneration A recent story on Matangi Tonga highlighted the need for civil servants to at least reply to e-mails.
