PM Pohiva “really sick” says spokesperson after election

Nuku'alofa, Tonga

'Akilisi Pohiva is congratulated by supporters as he leaves Parliament House. 29 December 2014

After winning today's election, Tonga's new Prime Minister elect 'Akilisi Pohiva, was rushed home by his family who said he was “really sick”.

Pohiva was unable to comment on his win, his son-in-law Mateni Tapueluelu told media waiting outside parliament house.

"I am really sorry but he is really sick right now and needs to go home and rest.

"I have told him ... but he really can't talk right now. He is really sick and might  collapse / faint somewhere. We really need to take him home.... Maybe tomorrow please, I'm sorry,” said Mateni, the Kele'a editor, who is also the People's Representative for Tongatapu #4.
