Strong determination on display at Inter-Collegiate sports second day

A highlight of the second day of the Inter-Collegiate Athletic Sports competition, sponsored by Tonga Health, yesterday was the 4x100m relay heats, showcasing determination from the athletes competing for their schoolsat Teufaiva Stadium on15 April 2026.

Teufaiva Stadium was filled with students and families cheering for their teams.

At a medal ceremony toward the end of the day Christina Tukuafu of Tonga High School was awarded two golds for her school. 

Chrsitina dominated her two throw events, breaking a record in the intermediate girls Shot Put surpassing 10.81m set in 2019 with her record throw of 11.80m.

For intermediate girls Discus, Christina placed gold breaking the old record of 32.30m with her new 40.75m. 

Another new record was set in the midget girls long jump by Tonga Side School athlete Lile Vea’ila, she broke the old record of 3.98m setting a new record of 4.30m. 

Other events of the day included a Zumba competition organized by Tonga Health to promote a healthy lifestyle among students.

The field events of the day were high jumps for intermediate girls and boys, and long jumps for senior girls and boy amongst others.
