President of the Tonga Breast Cancer Society, Hon. Fredrica Tuita received a cheque for $5,000 panga from ANZ Tonga Country Head, David Dudley today, at the ANZ Ma’ufanga branch.

Mr Dudley said the donation reaffirmed ANZ’s ongoing commitment to supporting breast cancer awareness and vital community health initiatives across the Pacific.

“We are proud to stand alongside the Breast Cancer Society and in their mission to provide early detection and essential services, we also reaffirm ANZ’s longstanding relationship with the society that has continued since 2012,” he said.

The funds were raised by ANZ Tonga staff during Pinktober in October last year through a series of staff-led activities, including raffles, sausage sizzlers and other community events with the bank matching every dollar contributed.

The proceeds will assist the Society with education, patient support, and awareness programs.

Hon. Fredrica acknowledged their generousity. She said that the Society was looking into providing more assistance for breast cancer victims who seek treatment in India.

“This donation is a big help for us to fund support systems for the victims to seek treatment and to encourage them so that they know they are not alone,” she said.

The event was attended by Soana ‘Aloua-Lala, ANZ's Talent & Culture Business Partner and other ANZ staff.
