Hala Mauikisikisi wins cultural singing competition

Kalapau Hala Mauikisikisi from Kolomotu'a won $10,000 for best cultural singing group in the celebration of 150 years of the Tongan Constitution, on Saturday, 1 November, at the Patelesio Finau and Sir Sofele Kakala Hall, ‘Apifo’ou College.

Cultural singing groups from across Tongatapu competed for the prize, performing songs about the meaning and importance of the Constitution to Tonga.

In second place and also winning best lyric was the Kalapu Kau 'Angelo from Hu'atolitoli Prisons.

The third place winning $8,000 was the Kalapu Loulou from Fahefa.

The singing competition may be viewed on Tonga Broadcasting Commission  livestream via Facebook.
