Tonga XIII formally known as Mate Ma’a Tonga is set to take on the Toa Samoa in a highly anticipated match at Suncorp Stadium in Australia this Sunday, 26 October 2025.

The match between Tonga and Samoa has been eagerly awaited by fans around the World since the NRL announced Pacific Championships fixtures in August.

Thousands of Tongan fans showed their support for the MMT with parade floats in Nuku’alofa last week – bearing the Tongan flag, sings and posters of their favorite players.

Tongan fans believe this is an opportunity for MMT to redeem themselves after losing to Toa Samoa in 2022.

The teams last encounter was in the Rugby League World Cup Quater Finals in November 2022, where Samoa won by two points over Tonga (20-18).

Tonga will also be facing the New Zealand Kiwis at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand, on 2 November.

Finals will be held at CommBank Stadium in Australia on 9 November.
