Fijian Military Commander makes first official visit to Tonga

The Republic of Fiji Military Forces’ Commander, Major General Jone Kalouniwai, headed a delegation to Tonga marking his first official visit to the Kingdom this week.

On Monday 11 August, King George Tupou VI extended a royal audience to Maj. Gen. Kalouniwai.

During the audience, Maj. Gen. Kalouniwai expressed his gratitude for the enduring friendship between Fiji and Tonga, and discussed diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Later, Maj. Gen. Kalouniwai laid a wreath at the ANZAC memorial monument on the seafront in Nuku’alofa

The visiting Fijian military leader was welcomed by the Fijian community in Tonga with a traditional Sevusevu followed by an informal dialogue and fellowship.
