
The Tonga National ICT Expo 2025 opened today, 2 May, at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall in Nuku’alofa, hosted and funded by Tonga Women in ICT (TWICT) and the Australian Government.
This year’s theme is ‘Empowering A Resilient Digital Tonga’.
The event was opened by the Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Taniela Fusimalohi where he said that literacy in technology, offers a better future for Tongans.
“If you are literate in technology, especially digital technology, you are looking at a better future in terms of education, health service delivery, connectivity and resilience,” he said.
Various businesses displayed their goods and services, including free Wi-Fi, educational brochures, and computers, in different booths at the event, that saw a good turn-out from the general public and high school students during the day.
This one-day national event is open to the public, government, private sector, and schools, and aims to showcase the growing landscape of digital technology, innovation, and ICT in Tonga.
The organisers were encouraged by the the success of their first ICT EXPO last year, and plan to make it an annual event.
