Chinese medical team treats over 300 people in Vava'u

A medical team from China carried out a large-scale, 12-day medical assist visit to Vava’u last month, with comprehensive rounds of free clinics, surgeries and health check-up services.

The team consisted of six specialists who left for Vava’u on 19 November. Team Leader, Dr Luke told Matangi Tonga that over 300 people were treated by the team during their visit.

Their medical services, welcomed in Vava'u, included consultations about gynecology, medicine, plastic surgery, routine examinations such as testing of blood sugar, blood pressure monitoring and ultrasound medical examinations. They dispensed free medicines.

The team also conducted free medical check-ups for HMAF in Vava’u, the China-Tonga Agro-Tech. Assistance Project, the Ministry of Food and Forestry the Ha’alefo Prison, and part of the local Chinese community.
