Lockdown and vaccination hotline for Tongatapu public

A COVID-19 lockdown hotline and vaccine hotline has been provided by the Tonga Prime Minister’s Office this afternoon for the public who wish to clarify information regarding the 7-days lockdown that started last night, November 1.

They are:

  • COVID-19 Lockdown Hotline – Ph: (676) 23 713 or 23 879
  • Email for COVID-19 Lockdown enquiries – opcc [dot] covid19 [at] police [dot] gov [dot] to
  • COVID-19 Vaccination program – Ph: 0800019

Tonga’s lockdown started last night at midnight and will continued to be enforced until 11:59pm on November 8 following detection of a COVID-19 positive test, among the 215 passengers repatriated from Christchurch on October 27.

Only essential services can continue to operate during the lockdown including the Ministries of Health, Police, Marine and Ports, telecommunications operators, media workers, among others. It also includes public enterprises such as Tonga Gas Ltd, Tonga Power, Tonga Water, Fire and Emergency, all Government Ministries, and others.

The COVID-19 vaccination program is also continuing to roll-out during the lockdown.
