This is a huge case, and its
This is a huge case, and its important the Justice system deals with this properly. A short analysis of voters and their choices, we see in many places they are rewarding those standing for reform and change. The Ptoa party seem right now to be able to tap in to those voters who are dissatisfied with the status quo. Not all their votes came from hardcore supporters of their party. How does this relate to this case?
If found guilty, this would have consequences with the nobles party in parliament. Nobles party? If they vote together, stick together, and seen as a party then they will be held accountable together. This case is huge because its a noble representative and former PM. Voters may punish nobles by supporting more radical reformers, or more may turn to Ptoa, not necessarily because they are Ptoa members but just to avoid nobles having a chance to form Government.
The nobles need to sit down and really need to get their act together, bring in experts and come up with their own reform plans, in particular economic reforms and then start sharing that with the public. Of course, face to face most Tongans might show them support, but its a different story in the privacy of the ballot box. So they need win back public support so that voters may vote for reps who are willing to work with them and their vision. Not doing so, voters will keep turning to reformers, and if they feel reform is threatened they'll turn to more radical reformers, which may not be the best thing for Tonga.
This desire for change can be seen from recent events, from the dissolution of parliament and the greater success of Ptoa in the elections. It seems many voters don't want to be stuck in the status quo. So its up to the nobles and other parties to offer their vision and reforms to bring Tonga to the future.
