A new climate change adaptation project for Tonga, likely to cost more than $40m in grant financing, is expected to be submitted to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) board for approval in June.

It still doesn't make sense
It still doesn't make sense continuing to settle more & more people into the Popua tidal zone. This is at the risk of the settlers and their building investments as well as the consequent loss of a major Polynesian heritage site. Other issues are environmental impact and health & safety. This area & Nukunukumotu was washed through by cyclone surges already in the past and there will be more to come. This is even without sea level rise to consider.
