American football player, Phillip Paea thankful for Tongan experience

University of Michigan football recruit, 17-year-old Phillip Paea, recalls his experience living in Tonga saying it made a huge impact setting a foundation for him and how he relates to others. Paea said his Tongan parents wanted him to learn about his roots and experience another culture other than the American one.

Paea's parents should be congratulated for the exposure their son experienced in Tonga. Fantastic opportunity for Phillip, he'll be coached by Mr Harbaugh although it may be a few years before he plays for the Woolvarines.
